Hi (obviously) my name is Bryan Montgomery I am in the computer
hardware and software group with Adam Butler and Eamonn Miller. As Adam
puts it well in his home page the computer team has ran into a problem
everyday this week.
Day 1
We split into groups first and found out how many people there were
in each group.
The program for the PMT's to start are C.
PMT's are what take the light in the telescope and make the box be
able to see the light.
After lunch we made chips to test the box that we would run to the
PMT's
We stared at a Oscilloscope for 4 hours.
Day 2
We came into the computer lab down in the dungeon of Swain Hall and
turned on all the equipment that was working just the other day.
When we went to run the Oscilloscope we ran into a problem in did not
work this is when we started our not working slump.
This whole day we were trying to figure out what happened to the Oscilloscope
and we had the program tweaked a little bit.
Day 3
(I am the guy in the red cardinal jersey)
This Mr. Bailey, Adam, and me working on getting the oscilloscope to
work and writing down the patterns on paper and in the laptop. Eamonn is
working with the computer away from the camera.
We went down and dropped the test box (not literally) and went to the
program on the computer.
We ran test all day on the computer and burned out 4 chips and found
out that we burned a chip out on the test box.
This is a picture of a Van de Graf generator at the IUCF. This generator
is not in operation anymore but as you can see this is a very large generator.
Day 4
This day was very short because the computer team ended there day at
2:30 which is how I am typing this web page.
We ran test through the computer and after things were about to fall
apart we finally got it back together and took a picture of the Oscilloscopes
screen.
We went and got help from a professor at IU physics labs (Swain Hall)
and found our problem and went to the programmer and gave the problem that
we needed fixed.
Day 5
This was the last day that we worked.
We worked in the morning and worked on the code all day.
We left for Fermi Lab today. In Chi Town
This is Bryan Montgomery signing off at least maybe until next year.
